Full Surface Renewal, Drainage Upgrades, and Specialist Markings Completed on Time and On Budget for Lidl.
Westbury FM successfully completed a high-efficiency resurfacing project for Lidl at their Ashford store, covering approximately 4,000 m² with a project value of £175,000 and a rapid turnaround time of just 7 days. The works were delivered in multiple coordinated phases to minimise disruption and meet client-specific operational needs.
SCOPE OUTLINE
High-performance car park resurfacing.
Planing & Surface
Preparation
The existing tarmac surface was planed to a depth of 40mm across two distinct phases, with full offsite disposal of all material arisings to prepare the site for new surfacing.
Drainage
Upgrades
Significant drainage improvements included the removal and replacement of ACO channel drains, jetting and clearing of existing drainage channels, and secure installation of new channels fixed with concrete and connected to the local system.
Trench
Reinstatements
As part of integration with electrical works, trenches were excavated, cleared, and reinstated using an AC20 Dense Binder Course at an average 100mm depth over 60 linear metres.
Resurfacing &
Regulating
The car park received a new 10mm SMA Surface Course laid in two phases. Regulating works were included to address surface defects or delamination found during preparation.
Zebra Crossings & Crossing Panels
Zebra crossings and crossing panels All line markings were executed using durable thermoplastic screed for longevity and visibility.
White Lining & Road Markings
Detailed white lining works were carried out to match the existing layout and included:
- Parking and disabled bays
- Cross-hatch and give way markings
- Directional arrows
- Electric vehicle bay markings

Requirements
- Kerb adjustments near designated parking bays.
Installation of a new zebra crossing.
Bell mouth works planned for early morning hours to minimise store disruption, coordinated with Lidl’s Deputy Store Manager.
Blue markings and tactile paving for EV bay demarcation and pedestrian navigation.
Coordination with electrical contractors for trench reinstatements, ensuring seamless integration with ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
